On-location Recording - Digital recording is done in a wide variety of performing venues primarily in the Triangle area (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill). A small travel fee is added for distances longer than 45 minutes from Raleigh. Typically, 2-8 microphones are recorded onto a computer and simultaneously backed up on a multi-track hard disk recorder. The contents transferred to a computer for mixing and editing.

Digital Mixing and Editing / CD Mastering - Digital mixing determines the proper loudness of each track and then combines them into a stereo pair of tracks. Editing removes talking and applause (unless requested to be kept) and fades in and out each of the songs. If the venue is particularly dead, a small amount of reverb can be added to make it sound like a larger hall. The whole performance is "normalized" (amplified to the maximum volume the CD can hold) and track indexes are inserted. Finally a Master CD is "burned" (created). Additional services such as EQ (equalization), pitch shifting, cough removal and noise removal are also available.

CD Cover Design - One of the nicest features of my CDs are the color covers designed by my daughter, Mandie Sellars, a professional graphic designer. Typically, I shoot digital photos during the concert and they are used in the design of the cover and traycard. For keepsake performances, these colorful covers make a very dramatic impact on the performers. Here are some sample covers.

CD Creation - Specializing in producing small run (150 or less) CD orders, the entire CD (CD media with printing on the back, color cover, color traycard and jewel case) are burned, printed and assembled on premises. If larger orders are needed, these are easily handled through commercial vendors. I master the CD, design the cover and traycard and the vendor does the mass duplication and assembly.

Digital Photography - I shoot digital photography of most concerts and as a result I offer CD Extra format CDs (contains both music and photos on one CD), a package that almost no one else offers. CD Extra plays music on CD players and shows concert photos as well as music when played on a PC. You can't get a better concert keepsake than this.
